The American Dream.
May 13th, 2012 by Imaniac received No Comments »I have finally uploaded the photos from my USA trip on my FB. So, if you’re a friend of mine there, check the album out :D I may have gone to many places in Europe and in Asia, but I have never ever touched the States before. So when my mum told me that my brother has a competition in USA, and that the family was following, it was an offer that I just could not pass up. (Well, they didn’t offer at all, I invited myself LMAO)
I won’t write every single detail, but here are some highlights from my 2-week ‘holiday’:
- Los Angeles. In USA, most celebrities settle in either LA or NY. I was so excited on stumbling into a celebrity, but I didn’t meet anyone famous at all. You would have to be really lucky, you would have to be at the right place, at the right time. Nevertheless, when I arrived at LAX (Los Angeles Airport), I was overwhelmed. I couldn’t believe it. I thought I would cry but I didn’t (lol I think I will cry if I ever step foot in New York tbh).
- Hollywood. My God, it was such a surreal experience. Kodak Theatre, Chinese Grauman Theatre, THE HOLLYWOOD WALK OF FAME. GOD DAYYYM. Can you belieeeeeve that celebrities have stepped foot on the ground of those places before?! AAHHHH :D I found MJ’s star but it took me ages to find Britney’s. I finally found it though, I was so happy. I got to see Britney live in UK, AND I got to see her star in Hollywood. It’s not yet complete because I actually want to meet her in real life :X
- Shopping. I went crazy with the shopping, I’ll admit. I don’t want to brag specifically what I bought, but I’ll just say this. I got myself some fitted caps (authentic ones), some souvenirs for my friends, and some things from a luxury brand starting with ‘C’. Luxury products in the USA come out much sooner than in Malaysia and are so much cheaper. SO HELLO. Hehe.
- Disneyland. I’ll just stop there okay. What else can be said about the legendary, most loved theme park? Yeah.
- The rides from Disneyland and Universal Studios. I admit, I chickened out and said ‘no’ to most of the rides but I DID go to some that looked ‘safe’ lol. When I was actually ON the ride I would get headaches and I would be all “OMG STOP PLEASE WTF ENOUGH OF THIS SHIT”. I hate theme park rides in general, but I liked the adrenaline rush.. I must say.
- Universal Studios Hollywood. I got to see actual movie sets. My favourite was the Desperate Housewives’ set of Wisteria Lane. It looks so much smaller in real life o_O But I was fangirl-ing all over the place anyway, I was the only one in the shuttle who got over-excited over it hahahhaa.
- The food. ZOMG x100000. I had warned my parents beforehand that I would be eating the beef there (it’s not halal, of course). I mean, I’ve been loving food and having knowledge about YUMMAYH FATTY ALL-AMERICAN FOOD since I was little, I would be silly to not experience them first-hand. I had planned to cover ALL of my targeted eateries which are Taco Bell, IHOP, Chuck E. Cheese,Applebee’s, and Olive Garden. However, I only got to find Taco Bell and IHOP. I found White Castle opposite Taco Bell though (I had forgotten about this eatery until my boyfriend told me about it), but my mum didn’t let me go overboard haha. STILL, GAAHHHH. Taco Bell and IHOP were absolute tongue-gasms. I was disappointed at how small the tacos were though :(
- Saint Louis. My brother’s World Lego Championship was held at a Convention Centre here, in St. Louis. It’s heavily populated with blacks but they are pretty cool and friendly! Only some are actually ghetto lmao but most of them are just normal.
- Bonding with my family. Honestly, it’s been a while since I went on a trip with my family like this. Our last fantastic trip was our European Trip (London-Paris-Barcelona). This trip STILL cannot be topped, but ISA is close :) While I was studying in the UK, I felt that I was no longer close to my little bro and sis so during USA, we actually talked a lot, played around a lot. It felt nice. Really, it did. I have learned to appreciate the moments that I spend with my family. The trip spawned SO many inside jokes within the family that I feel sorry for my other brother, Arif haha. He didn’t come with us as he had exams.
- I became way more talkative to other people. I don’t know why, but I suddenly had the confidence to talk to the other parents that were part of the trip. I’m always scared to talk to adults and I feel awkward as hayle. But this time around, I would talk to them, have small talk with them, joke around with them, gossip with them, I suddenly felt like ‘one of the adults’. For real, it felt good to not be shy anymore. I’m already 21, and I’m happy that I broke out of my shell during this trip.
My family and I hope to go to New York or maybe San Fransisco the next time we have a chance to head to the States. Who knows… maybe I’ll blog about it, if it ever happens ;)
